I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Eastern European Jewish History at Vilnius University, Lithuania where I develop Digital Humanities Lab. In my research I rely on data science and GIS to explore Jewish and non-Jewish social interactions in east-central Europe, in particular in early modern demography, family history, and modernisation of Jewish musical culture. I’m a fan of minimalist visualisations.
I have worked for several NGOs, including UNESCO, to protect Jewish archival and material heritage as well as advise cultural institutions on maintaining, digitizing, and publicly sharing repositories.
My latest paper:
Mapping the Jewish family in eighteenth-century east-central Europe
My book:
Demography of a shtetl. The case of Piotrków Trybunalski
The conference I organise:
Beyond digital awe. European Jewish Studies and the challenge of Digital Humanities
